My Way Or the Highway

My Way Or the Highway

by Jennifer Hoffman

What do you do when you try hard to please someone and no matter what you do they refuse to see things your way or to compromise with their position? They want their way, no matter what and they want you to honor their path, fears and needs no matter how much it costs you in terms of time, energy, or emotions. You are at an impasse and you have to make a choice that you don't want to make-to tell them 'no', and then deal with the consequences of their anger, do what they ask and then be angry with yourself or walk away and risk that they will cut you out of their life (which may actually be a good thing).

Or you can be that person, feeling that you have to defend your place in life against everyone else and things have to go your way or not at all. Everyone in your life presents a challenge to your freedom and energy and you feel you must always assert yourself to ensure that your needs are met.

We face power struggles in our life every day and sometimes we have to decide between several unappealing choices. But we can only see it from our perspective and we don't see what is really going on with the other person. What do they want when it's 'their way or the highway?' What are they afraid of? What needs do they have that are not being met in their life? Why do they have to put their needs above everyone else's?

People who are very determined to get their way may be loud, angry, confrontational and even rude but at their core they are so afraid their needs won't be met that they feel the only way to do that is to force everyone around them to comply. And because they are loud and angry when they don't get their way, many people do what they ask to avoid the hassle of trying to reason with them.

If we look at the difficult people in our lives a little more closely, the ones with a 'my way or the highway' attitude, we can see that they are very needy and are desperate for approval and attention. At some point in their life they did not get the love they wanted in the way they wanted it and they are going to ensure that they get it now. As far as they are concerned, everyone in their life is a source of meeting their needs. And that includes you, if you are part of their circle. What do you do? How can you meet their needs and maintain your boundaries?

Lessons in boundaries often involve people who stretch our boundaries to their limit. Can we maintain our boundaries under pressure? Every situation provides a variety of choices, even with the loudest, most demanding people. We can give in because we don't want to face their anger or we can look at their neediness and respond in a way that addresses their needs without doing something we do not want to do. And we can realize that we can't make everyone happy and if they are not willing to compromise then we need to look at ourselves and the kind of people we are attracting.

If we have made it a habit to give in to them, it may take a few times for them to understand that the terms of the game have changed and we are no longer going to say 'Yes' to everything they want. We may have to be willing to put up with a little anger and resentment and that is where we back down because we establish our boundaries and then want everyone to agree with them. They may not and probably won't. And sometimes they will resent us for it. But that's OK because it's not about one person winning and the other losing, it is about compromise and you are not the person who must always compromise your position or yourself.

But we take that to mean that we are wrong, our boundaries are unacceptable or we are not doing enough to help others. Everyone has needs they think are important. When those needs aren't met they become afraid and strike out at the person they think isn't meeting them. That is when we can take a good look at what we do to avoid challenges and, more importantly our level of responsibility to others.

We can take on the responsibility for solving others' problems and meeting their needs or realize that everyone is powerful, we all have the same source of power and we choose how we use our power in our lives. By thinking that others are powerless we take on the responsibility for their life and then offer our power to them. The greatest gift we can give to others is to see them as powerful and to recognize their inner power. Whether they can make the connections to it is their responsibility. And we can step aside and let them do that in their own time.

We're coming into the end of a challenging year and this month is going to give us many opportunities to create strong boundaries. These are not necessarily to keep others out, although they can do that, but to help us manage our own energy. Who are we always doing things for, whose needs do we put above our own, who is the priority in our life? Any area where this is a question is an area where you can be sure to get a lesson in creating boundaries that honor you and allow you to always act in integrity with your priorities, your self and you own needs. You can help others but not by assuming responsibility for their happiness.

And the people who approach who with a 'my way or the highway' attitude can be invited to sit down with you at the compromise table or you can send them down their highway, bless them and tell them to enjoy the trip.

Keep the faith, we're all in this together and time is moving quickly. Become the observer in your life as you stay focused on your path.

In these interesting and transformational times, we can be overwhelmed by what is happening in our lives but there are always other solutions. Here are a few things to help you get through the difficult moments in your life:

Stay calm, focused, detached and aware and remember your thoughts are creating every moment of your life. Think the best ones.

As you ponder this and the other things that are happening at this time remember to:

Accept all gifts of understanding with gratitude and use them to apply forgiveness, release and healing to every situation.

Ask for guidance and confirmation and then wait for it to come to you.

Above all, be grateful for this opportunity to be part of humanity's amazing shift in consciousness as we all ascend into the miracle vibration.

Many blessings in these miraculous and amazing times,

Jennifer Hoffman

The Angel in the Hospital Named Ruth

The Angel in the Hospital Named Ruth

by Joan Wolensky

Due to complications, I lost my unborn child, but a woman at the hospital gave me the hope, comfort, and love I needed.

"He will give you angels charge of you in all your ways." - Psalm 91:11-12

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, you may have entertained angels, unaware". - Bible, Hebrews 13:12

An angel's healing presence has accompanied me from listening and playing with my angels from childhood to adulthood. When all I knew were stinging, hot tears, a vision of the world settling and going to sleep, [I would] see a streak of rainbow, a message of light in the dark no matter what the situation.

To highlight just one experience: [Something] happened during my miscarriage. I was home with my 3-year-old daughter. At the time, my husband was at work. I was four months pregnant. It was evening and I didn't feel right. I ignored [the pain] yet found myself kneeling on a kitchen chair, staring out the window, and realized I was "biting" the back of the chair.I was holding my stomach so hard I could not move. There were teeth marks on the back of the chair. The pain was two minutes apart. I called my husband and told him I was on my way to the hospital and would drop off our 3-year-old with friends. He said he would meet me at the hospital. I did not know how I would drive the car.

"It’s okay, you will make it,” a Voice said. "Go this way, hold onto this, go slow, you will be okay.” The Voice kept talking to me--the entire ride, it seemed arms were holding me and hands were holding mine over the steering wheel.

When I arrived at the hospital, the nurse took one look at me and rushed me into the ER. After vitals and an exam, the words "inevitable abortion" shot through the room. In my hysteria, I was whisked away to the operating room and received meds and "a procedure" to address the "problem.”

I woke up in a daze. My husband met me then. No one spoke. We were numb. I drifted off and he went home. I woke up up in a room with three empty beds. The Voice whispered again, "It was a little boy.” It was one week before Christmas.

I learned I was in the "problem" room on the floor with all the new mothers and babies. I felt empty, dazed, and scared. My world crumbled. I could not eat, sleep or go forward. I was inconsolable.

It was 2 am and I could not sleep. I heard rustling in the hallway and I walked out into the hall and went to see all the new babies. I just stared, riveted to the spot.

"So which one is yours?," a lady asked. I looked up--a very warm, smiling lady with beautiful eyes stood gazing at me.

"I don't have one. They put me in the problem room," I replied. I was barely able to speak, tears were falling so fast I could not see the lady or the floor.

"I thought there was something wrong. I saw you, your husband, and small daughter earlier today. Everybody looked so sad.”

"Yes," I replied. "I lost my baby. I am not doing very good, especially now, one week before Christmas."

The lady answered, "I don't have anything to do right now. How about we visit in your room for a while?"

"Okay," I replied. I was so numb, I did not care one way or the other what happened. I didn't notice the time or how long we were together until the nurse came in and told me they were bringing breakfast. It was 6:45 am. The lady stayed with me all night--we talked about life, loss, blessings, and going forward. Her words were cool healing rain in a parched desert of pain. I soaked in her light, I soaked in her words. Who was this lady?

She said her name was Ruth. She was from somewhere around here. I thanked her profusely for her company. I told her I would never forget her kindness and was very lucky to have met her. I asked her for her address and phone number. She took out a card and wrote the information, handed it to me, and I put it in my purse. I hugged her and she left.

Time passed and I was home trying to make a Christmas for my daughter and family. I was not into the holiday, I was so sad. Going through the motions, I happened to find the card the lady gave me in my purse. The front of the card had a picture of stained glass windows. Inside the card she had written, "Even through stained glass windows, God's Light will shine. You will be okay. God loves you. Love, Ruth"

I decided to call—"We're sorry,” the recording said, “there is no such number." I tried several times; same response. I sat down and decided to send her a thank you card—I sent a beautiful card with an invitation to visit. In a few days, I received my card back, but it was stamped: "RETURN TO SENDER. ADDRESS UNKNOWN." No such address. No such person. This person did not exist. Or did she?

This "lady" was a special angel sent to me exactly when I needed her, even in the middle of the night. Her healing presence of love, light, and divine grace melted the cuts, bruises, and scars of my heart. She dried my tears with a smile and sent me on my way. I discovered I now have my own special angel waiting for me—I named him Michael, after my special guardian, Archangel Michael. He is with me all the time; he is my heart song.

God does love me, the lady was right. During trying times, I often remember her message. I will never be the same. God promised, "I will not leave you comfortless." He didn't. I am eternally grateful.

The Power of Releasing Resentment

The Power of Releasing Resentment

by Dr. Judith Orloff

"If I stayed angry at other people, I would miss finding friends among those I was angry with."

--Rosa Parks

As a psychiatrist, I feel strongly that letting go of resentments, a point I emphasize in my recent book "Emotional Freedom" is essential to free yourself from negativity. The main person the resentment hurts is you.

A resentment is a grudge that you harbor after you've felt mistreated. It's easy to hold on to all the incidents that angered you, from a gossiping hairdresser to a two-timing ex-husband. And, if you took a poll, you'd probably get a lot of people on your side about your right to stay resentful. According to such logic, as time passes, you have "the right" to get angrier, becoming a broken record of complaints. But is that the sour person you want to be? Instead, for emotional freedom, try to release resentments and let compassion purify them. One friend, in the midst of that process, likened uncovering resentments to "dragging dead bodies out of a well." You don't want moldering negativity rotting your psyche.

Forgiveness is a state of grace, nothing you can force or pretend. I guide patients toward the large-heartedness to forgive both injuries others have caused and those they've self-inflicted. Forgiveness penetrates the impenetrable -- the obstinacy that stifles love, the tenacious pain that dams our energy reserves. A Stanford research study showed that forgiveness significantly decreases stress, rage and psychosomatic symptoms. I'm not saying that betrayal is ever justified, that you aren't entitled to be upset if someone wrongs you, or that you shouldn't try to improve or else leave a destructive situation. Forgiveness, though, ensures that resentments don't feed on your energy. Finally, remember forgiveness refers to the actor, not the act -- not the offense but the woundedness of the offender.

Strategies to Let Resentments Go

1. Set Your Intention to Release the Resentment

The purpose of releasing resentments is to increase your energy and to feel better. Select a target: a critical mother, a controlling boyfriend, a cutthroat colleague. Perhaps you've tried to discuss the grievance with no results. (Always attempt to work things out if the person is the slightest bit receptive.) Or your target may truly be unapproachable. In either case, stay away from the person, air your resentments without sugarcoating them. Do this in a journal, or with a therapist or friend. For example, say, "I despise the double-crossing conniver because..." Frankly, expressing your feelings is necessary to forgive.

2. Cultivate Forgiveness

In a quiet moment, really reach to find compassion for the person's shortcomings, not the deed itself. This may be very hard work. What insecurities or fears motivated him or her? Why is the person's heart so closed? What caused his or her moral blindness? Try to discern the context of the person's actions. At this point, you may be inwardly able to ask yourself to start to forgive. Perhaps you're not there yet -- that's okay. The request itself sets off a stream of compassion, a cleansing of your system. Repeat the exercise once a day for at least a week. See if your energy improves. I'll bet you'll feel a burden lift.

3. Take a Reality Check

As part of forgiveness, take this reality check: People bring a lifetime of wounds to your relationship, which may make their behavior more about them than you. You might justifiably say, as one of my patients did, "I'm hurt and furious my spouse left me and refused to even talk about it. Isn't it reasonable to want that?" Naturally it is. But your need doesn't take into consideration your spouse's terror of intimacy, or that he or she would do anything to escape it in your relationship or any other. Unfortunately, your spouse's fears and inadequacies won out over your needs. To find forgiveness while endeavoring to heal anger, you must evaluate whom you're dealing with, the good and the bad. Often, people are just doing the best they can, which may not amount to a hill of beans where you're concerned, but it does represent the sad truth of the situation. Accepting that truth of someone's limitations will help you to forgive.

Compassion opens a hidden door to a secret world that exists beyond anger. Notwithstanding, the feelings of anger or forgiveness aren't mutually exclusive. You can simultaneously experience varying degrees of both. Perhaps, at first, you're a little forgiving and very angry. But when you progress, the scales increasingly tip toward forgiveness as your attachment to anger recedes.

Manifesting Perfect Health Using Crystals

Manifesting Perfect Health Using Crystals

by Heather Fanjoy, B.S., ATP®

“These gems have life in them: their colors speak; say what words fail of.”

George Eliot (1819-1880)

Perfect Health is a topic many of us are interested in at this time, whether it is our own health or the health of our children or aging parents. My crystal friends are quite ecstatic at the prospect of offering their help and guidance to all of us on this journey towards health of body, mind and spirit. The most important thing for us to remember when it comes to using crystals is to honor our own inner voice or guidance. This is especially true when we are choosing the crystals we want to work with to create health and wellness.

It can be said that all crystals can assist us with creating health, however there are certain crystals that have intended themselves for the specific purpose of generating health on the physical level. There are literally thousands of types of crystals to choose from when you are embarking on your crystal healing journey; don’t be distracted by all of these choices! The one thing you can be guaranteed is there are no wrong choices! If you are drawn to a particular stone but there is no research that supports it will help you with your health concern-buy it anyway! We each possess our own distinct and unique energy field and like snowflakes no two are exactly the same. Our Crystal friends know who they can help and will reach out to us in their own way.

Once you have chosen your crystal or crystals there are a few things that you may want to complete in order to connect and prepare it for use. The following is my own opinion on preparing the crystals, in no way is this exhaustive of all the different methods used for this process. Again, follow your guidance and in the absence of certain techniques your own energy & intention/ thought is the most valuable tool you possess for crystal preparation.

1. Hold the crystal in your hands and using your breath blow forcefully over all sides of the crystal. In your mind or out loud say, “Clear this stone.”

2. Spend some time with the stone; hold the stone in front of your heart and ask in your mind or out loud to be connected with all of the loving and healing aspects of the stone. Allow your self sufficient time to really feel that this stone is now a part of your ‘family’; a part of you.

3. Now ask the stone to please help you with your health concern. Again allow time to ensure the stone is ready for the purpose you are requesting.

4. Finally, thank the crystal for its gift of healing.

Now it’s time for the fun stuff. As I had mentioned earlier all crystals can be used for healing, but just as we might search Google for information it is always a quicker process if we actually know the name of the website we are looking to find The following is a brief list of some crystals and the physical ailments they can help to alleviate. I tried to keep this list focused on stones that are readily available either on-line or in your local gem/metaphysical shops.

*Amethyst-Known as the Master Healing Stone. Can be used for most physical ailments. Especially good for stomach or liver issues. Purifying stone. Assists in balancing the nervous system and brain; tinnitus symptoms; breaking addictive behaviors or thought patterns.

*Blue Aventurine- Circulation issues; congestion issues; hormone balance; lessens muscle twitches, spasms, & facial tics; strengthening venous and arterial walls; calming hyperactivity; increases mental clarity & concentration.

*Green Aventurine-Overall physical healing; wounds; stimulates cell repair& regrowth; heal & regulate the heart & circulatory system; increases physical vitality.

*Azurite-Soothes migraines; lessens tinnitus symptoms; balances vertigo; all issues of the brain & head

*Carnelian-allergies, asthma; helps with detoxifying, breaking negative habits; improving overall health; balancing and healing the ovaries or testes.

*Citrine-Spinal support; overall support of body functions; helps with absorbing energy after an energy work session; digestive issues; metabolism; supports weight loss & increase of energy while exercising.

*Clear Quartz-Helps to boost the energy of all the other stones; good for all aspects of healing; stimulates the nervous system; hair & nail growth; removing adhesions to connective tissues

*Dioptase-healing physical issues with emotional roots-especially related to any form of abuse

Emerald-Any physical healing needed; extremely powerful; heart healer for imbalances or disease

*Fluorite-Hormone Balance; PMS or menopause; balances brain chemistry; enhances memory; dizziness; vertigo; strengthening for bones & teeth

*Jade- Reduce tension; sore muscles; relaxation; soothes the nervous system; hives & rashes related to stress

*Kyanite-seizures; stroke; head trauma; creating new neural pathways; assists nerves& tissues to grow after trauma

*Lapis Lazuli-quiets the mind; slows down thoughts

*Larimar-useful during pregnancy, birth & post-partum; high blood pressure; stress related illnesses; infection, fever, inflammation; good for colds & flu to regulate mucus & sore throat

*Rose Quartz-Heart health; overall tension reduction; pre-mature babies & children with heart issues

*Selenite-Stimulates all forms of physical healing

*Tiger Eye-blood fortifier; strengthens the endocrine system; balances hormones & biochemistry

As you can see there are many crystal friends available to you as assistants on your journey towards whole health of body, mind and spirit! When working with crystals, it is suggested to limit the number of types you use for your healing. My suggestion would be to pick the one that most calls to you and if you feel a need you can always pair that crystal with either a clear quartz or a diamond to help amplify the energy of your chosen stone. There are many ways that you can utilize your new crystal friend such as laying the stones on each of your chakras or energy centers, holding them in your hands, keeping them in your pocket or perhaps wearing jewelry that contains your favorite crystal friend. Whichever method you choose will be the perfect method-have faith in your Divine Inner guidance as it is always leading you in the direction of true bliss & perfect balance!

On behalf of the Crystal Kingdom we wish you the best of luck as you embark on this path of healing. Follow your inner Divine wisdom and infinite opportunities will present themselves to you each moment of your day.

With Angel & Crystal Blessings,

Heather Fanjoy, ATP®

Enlightened Love Knows No Boundaries

Enlightened Love Knows No Boundaries

by Gordon Rosenberg

Enlightened love is an energy which comes to us from the universe and which we fully accept in our being. Enlightened love doesn't stop when you think it should. It's not dependent on another person. It doesn't leave when you're tired of it. It doesn't come and go on a whim. It's always there for you.

If you block this universal energy, you keep yourself from receiving the what you need. But if you let go of fear and allow this energy to come to you fully, you'll receive all you need and you'll recognize the exalted feeling it brings. You then know what it's like to receive and give love, without worrying about losing it. You don't hold back out of fear or disillusionment or misperception of what love should feel like. You let go and experience all that it has for you.

Real Love Versus Shadow Love

You can learn how to know when you're feeling this real love versus feeling a shadow version. Shadow, or immature, love, is that which isn't generated by the universe, but rather comes from either some sensation inside you or more likely from someone or something in the external world. You're really not capable of knowing why real love comes to you or how it should feel. You are capable of knowing when to accept and use it. You can use real love for your own development, your own growth, and for assisting others in their healing and growth.

We are largely at choice about how we use the true energy of love, but in my opinion its highest expression is for healing and awakening (which also happens to feel wonderful in us!) While some of us may use this gift for purely physical pleasure, we can also use it to access higher consciousness. Love has been used in this way for centuries, by such disciplines as Tantra and Taoism, and others. Perhaps you've experienced your own higher form which has come from a bond of this nature. If so, you have some idea of the great healing and spiritual power of love. You can literally get in touch with who you are by experiencing love of this kind.

Love is the Great Healer and Teacher

You can also use love for its great healing power alone, without experiencing any of the traditional physical sensations of love. You may know of what I speak. Have you seen people apparently healed by love in some way, when nothing else seemed to be working? Love is a great healer.

Love is also a great teacher. We learn a lot by being in the presence of love. Love comes to us when we need to learn something and it helps us get the lesson and move on. Have you experienced love in this way? Have you learned from love when you couldn't seem to learn any other way? Love can give you all the information you need to live and thrive here.

Love will teach you each step of your way. Give love the chance to heal you and it will do so. Give love the chance to help you grow and it will do so. Give love the chance to give you all you need and it will do so. You're a child of the universe. You can never be anything else. As such, you're here to learn from the universe, to let the universe flow through you as love, to learn in all ways possible--merely by staying open to the experience of authentic love.

That Don't Look Like Grandma: Children and Grief

That Don't Look Like Grandma: Children and Grief

by Sandy Goodman

When I was asked to compose an article about kids and grief, my pompous ego spoke up instantly with "You can't." Never one to argue with that soft, still voice in my head, I readily agreed that I couldn't. After all, I usually only write about what I myself have experienced, and small children were never a part of my grieving. Jeremy was 22 when Jason died and Joshua was 18. I felt unqualified and incapable of telling others what they should say or do to help a bereaved child.

However, it is now three weeks later and I am feeling the need to write. I tapped out a few lines about grief triggers, a couple paragraphs about sudden versus anticipated loss, and a title for a piece about the first six months of bereavement. None of it felt right because my heart wants me to address that which I have avoided. Since that which we resist, persists, I see only one way out of this dilemma. I am going to talk with you about what I believe when it comes to talking with kids about death and dying and all that goes with it. But allow me to preface this with my own admission that what I am going to say we should do is not what I did.

Kids are more intuitive, more loving, and more compassionate than adults. But when a death occurs in a child's life, we haul out the blindfolds and earplugs. We allow them to watch violent murders ontelevision (because it's NOT REAL), but we shelter them from deaths that occur in their lives. We fear they are not mature enough to understand, but I am here to tell you that maturity alone does not make death understandable.

I want to address this issue proactively, not reactively. Rather than looking at how to help a grieving child, I'd like to discuss how we can better help children understand death. What can we do, as parents and as human beings, to take away the fear and hopelessness that surrounds death? How can we give our children a different perception of death so that when they have their first experience of loss, they will have our shared wisdom to wrap themselves in?

If I had it to do all over again, I would have talked to my children about who we really are and explained over and over again that we are not our bodies. When they were very small, I would have questioned them about the place they came from, and listened more intently when they played with their "imaginary" friends. I would have told them bedtime stories about angels and guides, and taught them early to listen to the voice that whispered to their heart. I would have discussed feeling rather than thinking, and assured them that love is constant, never ending, and much more powerful than fear.

If I could go back in time, I would raise my children to know that death is not an end. I would explain what I believe happens when one's body wears out or is damaged beyond repair. We would have talked about being met by Grandpa Joe or Aunt Gladys, and about white light and all of the exquisite colors we don't have here in the physical. We would have talked about the unconditional love and unending laughter in the next place and I would have shared experiences that validate death as simply another stage of life.

When Grandma died, we would have all attended the services, not just the adults, because we would not have gone with the intention of saying goodbye. We would have gone to celebrate the life she had shared with us. When one of the boys would have inevitably remarked, "That don't look like Grandma..." I would have said, "It isn't." Then, I would have explained that the Grandma they loved was free of her body, happy, and closer to them than she had ever been before. I would have told them they could still talk to her, and I would have listened to them when they spoke of her visiting them in their dreams.

If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would have stood at my son's side as he left his 18-year-old body behind, breathing in his fear and breathing out pure unconditional love. I would have told him to fly free and to never doubt my belief that even in death, love remains. And lastly, I would have realized from the moment I looked into my first child's eyes that our children are not given to us to "own," but come so that each of us can know love. I would have known that they are never really "ours," and that they may not stay as long as we hope. And understanding all of this, I would have done it all anyway, because the joy of the journey is so much more then the pain of an illusory loss.

I began this article with the intention of assisting in the never-ending job of parenting. I end it with this. Your children will give you more than you can ever hope to give back. Listen, come from love, and accept. They come bearing gifts, you need only hold out your hand.

Mantra for Healing

Mantra for Healing

by Ramdesh Kaur

There was a time in my childhood when I was sick enough to die. The virus in my brain flooded the rest of me with pain, causing temporary paralysis, massive fever, and then coma. Eventually my personal ecosystem normalized, and for the most part I recovered. But the need to heal continues. Healing, after all, doesn't only mean recovery from illness.

Illness takes a tremendous toll on our physical and emotional well-being. Being in pain changes everything. The rest of your life stops. Whole careers can come shuddering to a halt to address a health crisis. Without our health, what do we have? Love. Love remains. But what if love turns sour and our hearts break, causing as much pain as any illness in a medical textbook? We still need healing, and then we can't turn to the latest pill.

Healing is not necessarily cure. Healing we all need. Cure is much more complicated. Healing is within our grasp.

In Kundalini Yoga, there is a powerful mantra for healing. The way that it heals is to tune a soul to the vibration of the Universe, which is pure and without disease or pain.

Called the Siri Gaitri Mantra and more commonly known as Ra Ma Da Sa, it holds within it eight sounds that stimulate the Kundalini flow within the central channel of the spine for healing. It brings balance into the core of our energetic body and flooding it with new energy.

Imagine a prism catching the light of the sun and refracting it out into a rainbow. This mantra does something similar with the healing energy of the Universe. It grabs onto the healing elixir of the Divine and allows you to steer it into a particular direction...either into yourself, into another person, the whole planet, or anything on which you focus your intention.

The words to this mantra are:

Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung

Ra means the sun and connecting with that frequency gives you energy.

Ma means the moon and it aligns you with receptivity.

Da is the the energy of the Earth, grounding you in your roots.

Sa is Infinity and as you chant this, your energy rises upwards and outwards drawing in the healing the the Universe.

When you chant Sa a second time, you pull the energy of Infinity into you.

Say is a way of honoring the all-encompassing Thou. It is personal, like a secret name for God.

So is a vibration of merger.

Hung is the Infinite, the vibrating real. It is the essence of creation. (So Hung together means, I am Thou.)

In many traditions, healing is said to occur when you raise your vibration into Divine Alignment. According to the Law of Attraction, healing must occur if your vibration matches it. The Siri Gaitri Mantra is a way of raising your vibration to the frequency of Divine Healing.

Recently, my grandmother had a heart attack at Thanksgiving. I put out the word on Facebook, and many people responded by chanting Ra Ma Da Sa for her. She pulled through marvelously. Does that mean that she was healed by the chant? No. I can't prove that. But I can say that her level of grace through fear was remarkable, and that her recovery was swift. I can also say that it helped me through a challenging time. I felt it. The real question, of course, is can you?

Hearing, Seeing and Feeling Angels or Divine Presence

Hearing, Seeing and Feeling Angels or Divine Presence.

The spiritual shift in man and the general evolution towards a higher conscious, has given us the opportunity to communicate with Higher Divine Realms. This is a true gift and not one that is to be considered to belong to the ‘rare few’. We are all made in the image of God, the Divine if you like, so we are all an aspect of Him. That does not make any the more inferior or superior to those around us. With this in mind, we are all able to see, hear or feel our Guardian Angels or Angel guides.

Below is a list of ways Angelic presence can be discerned. Bear in mind though that there really is no right or wrong way of determining Divine presence as we are all different and therefore have different experiences. It lies ultimately in what you believe and what resonates with you.

There is a degree of difficulty though as one must be centered, clear of any judgment, love unconditionally and call upon Angels only for the highest good. They appear when they are called upon patiently and lovingly and only with the highest good in mind. They also appear after one has realized and truly accepted that they exist and when serenity lies within.

Meditating or praying helps clear one’s souls thus opening a channel to higher realms. Do not feel insecure if you do not see or hear from your angel the moment you ask for his presence at first. Wait patiently, quietly, believe and he will arrive.

Hearing Angelic Presence.

• What may be heard is a voice in the distance. It is soft, soothing and very accurate. It does not beat around the bush nor does it say too much. It is not direct nor rude nor demanding. It is a beautiful soft voice but may become hard when your guide is trying to avert danger.

• The advice given is exactly that – advice. Angels do not feed egos, do not come up with money making schemes or the lotto numbers. They guide in your daily routine or problems. Their advice is sound and safe. It never ever denotes anger, violence or hurt.

• They may be usually heard, now this is a little difficult to explain, on the periphery of our ears. The message reaches our ears once it’s completed but already heard .It may be something like a distant voice but distinct and clear.

• The language is ‘proper’. There are no slang terms or any rude language. Nor, will they ever say ‘I told you so!’ Angels guide us with the decision we have made as long as it is for the highest good. Remember though that the voice you hear is really a vibration and the accent may just as well resonate with your mother tongue.

• Some hear music. This can be experienced in dreams as well. The music is soft, gentle and ‘quiet’.

• Sometimes, you may hear nothing! This can happen numerous times. Upon asking why there is no guidance you may receive ‘You know the answer.’ After some thought, the answer is there but the angels do not interfere with the lesson one must learn in life. He is there to help you get through the lesson and learn from it.

Seeing Angels.

• Angels can be seen as people, which is quite rare or as angels. That is normal angels with flowing robes or gowns and their wings are there but invisible in a way. Some, like myself, may be able to see their faces and characteristics.

• One can also see their colours but in my personal experience not say the exact colour. It’s either yellowy, bluey and so forth.

• Angels can be seen as sparks of beautiful colour, flashes of light or beautiful bubbles or clouds of light.

• Colours – generally it’s blue for Archangel Michael, yellow for Uriel, red for Gabriel and green for Raphael. As mentioned, everyone’s experience is different. Personally, Archangels come through in Gold for me – but that is only my experience, yours could and probably will be different.

• Feathers in the oddest of places are also seen whenever one needs to be reassured that Angels are in your presence or to remind one that we have not called upon them.

Feeling Angels.

•One always feel a safe, warm presence. Even in summer when it’s very hot their warmth is felt but it does not make you hot. Sometimes Angels have do through as cool but there is a feeling of elevation and joy there.

• When an angel is presence you are truly in a higher vibration. You may feel a flutter all the way from the torso to the head. It is a wonderful feeling, something like being dizzy but aware. It is a safe feeling and it fills one with joy and happiness. Sometimes, it overwhelms but in a positive way.

• Other times one may just feel them next to them . End of story. You know they are there – no heat, warmth or coolness just their presence. But it is a very safe feeling, very harmonious and very loving.

Basically, these experiences are to reassure us that it really is them with us. Some of you may not even have these feelings aroused but know that they are with you. For me, I no longer ask to see, hear or feel them but just ask for their presence. Luckily, I have built my faith in them to know that they are with me and do guide me. I only hear their voices if need be but I know they are present.

This is of course from experience and it resonates with me. You however may feel you need to see their wonderful presence – there really is nothing wrong with that. Our angels are from the Divine. They are sent to help, guide and heal us. They are here to help us tread the path of life as smoothly as possible and to lift us up when we fall and falter reminding us that we are here to learn and teach and grow spiritually.

Having Faith in an Uncertain World

Having Faith in an Uncertain World

by Randi G. Fine

There are many times in life when we find ourselves walking in the dark--faithfully moving forward but unsure of where we are heading or what obstacles we will bump or stumble on along the way.

The only way to navigate through the uncertainty of life is to have faith in something greater than ourselves. Some call that source God, some refer to it as their Higher Power, and some look to The Universe. What we name the object of our faith doesn't matter. Whether we find faith through religion or through our own design doesn't matter. Having a source for our faith is the only thing that matters.

Experience proves that there is a purpose for everything; even our deepest pain. No one escapes the impasses of life. There are times when our troubles loom large and are completely beyond our control. We only have two choices when we're halted: give up, or trust that there will be a brighter tomorrow. The decision should be obvious, but that doesn't mean that it's easy.

Relinquishing control of our life to an intangible source takes tremendous faith and courage. So often we are stopped in our tracks just so we may develop that faith. We are all spiritual beings. Though we exist in the physical world as human beings, our purpose is one with God, The Universe, or whatever Higher Power we choose to believe in. Adversity serves to remind us of that.

When we begin to seek a purpose for everything that happens, we grow stronger and so does our faith. The stronger our faith becomes, the more miracles we can recognize. Our ability to trust and to surrender our control gets easier over time.

When we believe in will always prove its purpose.

Love Always,

“When you have come to the edge Of all light that you know And are about to drop off into the darkness Of the unknown, Faith is knowing One of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or You will be taught to fly”

Finding Your Spiritual Family

Finding Your Spiritual Family

by Semele Xerri

In my healings over recent months the issue of isolation is coming up again and again - people feeling alone, different, as if they don't fit in with their family or the people around them. I can completely empathize with this as it's something I struggled with for many years. I tried to fit in, to make friends within certain groups but it felt like a lot of hard work for very little return. What I finally realized was that I was looking to others for validation, identity, a sense of belonging and even my own happiness. It was never going to work because the only person responsible for all of this was me - I had to find my own centre and source from which all these things could flow effortlessly and abundantly.

In fact, this uncertainty about who I was and lack of centeredness added to my problem. I was trying to be what other people wanted me to be and emulate those around me because I'd never taken the time to work out who I was and what I wanted. When I eventually did, through healing, meditation and spiritual development, the truth was blindingly obvious. I'd been trying to belong to the wrong crowd! The people I'd been working to befriend didn't actually support me, my values, dreams or goals and I had been subjecting myself to their negative comments and energy for far too long. I had been, indeed, a square peg struggling to force myself into a round hole.

The other important thing to remember is that your spiritual family, those to whom you feel you can belong, may not necessarily be who you think they should be. For many, their biological families cannot accept their strangeness and differences from them, wondering where on earth this little alien came from who doesn't think like them or act like them! If this is true for you, then it can be easy to carry forward this feeling of alienation into the rest of your life, focusing on a sense of neglect and lack of support. It can be tempting to fall in with a bad crowd who may give you an immediate sense of belonging but who, in the long run, only strengthen your sense of being an outsider. I'm reminded of Hans Christian Anderson's wonderful story The Ugly Duckling which illustrates this perfectly.

The answer is to find "home" for yourself. First, get to know who you really are, what you love, what you care about, the values you live by, your strengths, your weaknesses, the dreams you want to chase after. Recognize and understand that you need these things - your talents, gifts and limitations - to be acknowledged and accepted and that has to start with you. Immediately, you will gain an inner stability which cannot be knocked or affected by those around you. Then once you know, love, respect and accept yourself, warts and all, go and find the people who can love and respect you in the same way. They are your spiritual family and you will know when you have found them because they will make your life stronger rather than weaker, they will help you to flourish. Limit (or if possible stop completely) the time you spend with people who drain your energy and drag you down.

When you know yourself and are true to yourself, regardless of what other people may tell you, you are working hand in hand with your Soul.

The Infinite Human: Freedom

The Infinite Human: Freedom

by Scott Rabalais

Freedom is who we are. To recognize freedom one need only be aware of one’s true nature, which is light. Freedom is a quality of light, and thus is a quality of light beings as well. Light is essentially free; it is not bound by any borders, limitations or structures.

In the awareness of one’s nature as light, one simply moves as the light moves. There are no decisions, struggles, comparisons or judgments. The light, in its infinite wisdom, knows the how, when, where, why and what of all and moves according to this vast knowingness. The nature of light is one of benevolence and pure love. As human beings, we need only become aware of our beingness as light and heed to its flow. It is in this surrender to the light that we experience the freedom that is at the core of our being.

While we are often led to believe that freedom is externally applied, true freedom is not bestowed upon us by another being or a certain condition. It is a quality of who we are, irrespective of any external appearances. While we may be familiar with cultural freedoms such as political freedom, religious freedom and freedom of speech, the inner freedom of the light is unconditional and dependent on nothing. This quality of freedom that is inherent in our being is not a freedom we are required to fight for or earn. It cannot be taken away from us; it is as inherent as wetness is to water or warmth is to fire.

As light beings, we are as free as fish in the sea. Ponder the fish that swims in an ocean of possibilities, free to move here or there at will, often flowing in perfect harmony among a school of similar animals. There are no constraints on the fish, no passports or licenses to carry about, no rules or restrictions to follow, no higher authority that dictates. Such is the simple existence of a life lived in freedom.

If freedom is the very nature of our being, then why do so many of us fail to recognize its existence? Why does it seem so difficult to realize and express the freedom within? Simply put, being free is as simple or difficult as knowing who we are. As we experience the transcendental state, we shall experience our freedom. If we do not experience the transcendental state, we will not experience the depth of our innate freedom. The key to this experience is in moving our awareness beyond the logical, thinking mind and into the silent place of oneness. It is by going deep within that not only do we recognize this freedom, but express it as well.

One may inquire as to how we are to express our free being in an environment that indoctrinates us with a near-endless barrage of rules, regulations, laws and expectations. To experience freedom in the midst of these mental constructs, we need only act from the light. The light is aware of so-called limitation. What is a mental construct other than a thought, a frequency of the light as well? The light sees all and knows all and expresses through us with respect to all that is. The light knows what is best and appropriate in any given situation that calls for our natural expression.

For instance, imagine hearing a knock at your front door. Upon opening the door, you are greeted by a small group of Girl Scouts who ask you to purchase cookies. In this situation (as in any other), adhering to the light and how it wishes to express itself is key. By following the light, you will be directed to act in a specific manner, though there may be an infinite number of possible actions in this moment. In any given situation, we need only follow the light to determine our highest and most appropriate course of action.

Rather than focusing on any rehearsed action or non-action as the response of our being, it is sufficient to realize that our inner beings are free, and that only our own sense of limitation prohibits us from experiencing complete freedom. In other words, the thinking mind can get in the way. We need not be preoccupied with any perceived consequence of any potential action or non-action. There is no “What if?” when living and acting from the awareness of our inner being and its inherent freedom. There is no fear of where the light is going or any misperception of the result or destination. In our simplicity, we “let it go,” and allow the light to shine forth. We express our complete and unadulterated freedom.

With respect to what may be viewed as “internal” and “external,” freedom is an internal experience irrespective of external appearances. If one is being held within a prison cell under lock and key, this has no bearing on the experience of freedom. One’s reality is constructed in consciousness and there is no prison cell that can prohibit the awareness of freedom.

There are those who will propose that “unconditional freedom” (freedom by its nature has no conditions) will only lead to societal chaos and rampant lawlessness. And yet, following the light is the means by which a simple and natural harmony can exist, within both an individual and a collective. Ignorant of such truth, we instead turn to means by which individuals are controlled by mental constructs, most of all fear. Indeed, there is a better way, and a more natural way.

This innate freedom does not require a careful consideration of the perceived consequences and how it will affect one’s well-being, as well as the lives of others. It does not come at a cost, nor is it only allowed under the watchful eye of a restrictive institutional system such as a government or a religion. A quality of the light being is freedom, while another inherent quality of the light is that of pure love. This may also be seen as the ultimate in responsibility, as the light only exists and moves in the state of love, goodness, benevolence and perfection. There is no need to alter, guard, restrict or govern this freedom. Not only is the restriction of freedom futile, it is in opposition to the flow of life and light. Only those who choose to live in denial of the light and in a state of fear are interested in curtailing our natural expression of light and freedom.

Actually, the concept of freedom exists only because of the fall of man into a state of limitation. It is because of the proliferation of mental constructs and attempted limitations imposed on us that we long for such freedom. However, in longing for this experience, we often look to the same external authorities to give us the very freedom that they wish to remove from us. Those who wish to control others are in denial of the very essence of all humans – freedom.

It is the awakened human being who can see that freedom is not that which is bestowed by anyone else; it is simply inherent within them. It is who we are, even more so than our own breath and blood. The breath and blood will one day pass, but our freedom shall ever remain.

As one stills the mind, there no longer exists any restriction to freedom. It is in this state that the light is allowed to shine and express in its totality. There is complete trust that the light is the way; that it knows all, sees all and is all. It is in the silence that we recognize our unlimited state and our freedom, a freedom from the rambling mind that is transcended in higher consciousness. We are free, whether we live in that awareness or not. And if not, we are free to move into that awareness. There is nothing holding us back except ourselves. We are free to be free.

A Time of Spiritual Awakening

A Time of Spiritual Awakening

by Marie C. Barrett

Now is the time of spiritual awakening. Step into your true power, stand tall and shine your light that it may guide others along this new path of self-empowerment and the evolution of spiritual awareness.

The old paradigm of immersion in the mechanics of the physical world no longer functions adequately. You, the seekers and way-showers, are called to help humanity awaken to their personal and collective power of conscious creation and total personal responsibility. It is time to rethink your world view and become spirit-based in outlook and spirit-based in daily living.

We stand at the dawn of a new spiritual awakening for humanity in which we step beyond past boundaries into a future of infinite possibilities. This world of potential has always been here, but our awakening as conscious creators is just emerging into the light.

"This faith, this consciousness, can be developed in every life, and somewhere down the line of our cosmic journey, we, one and all, will develop it. Some will succeed in doing so in this incarnation, perhaps in a few days, a few weeks or a few months, while others may take many incarnations in which to develop it. It is for each life to say how quickly the work will be accomplished for itself."

Welcome to the wonderful world of possibility thinking. You will be amazed at how altering the way you choose to think can radically change your world and make available to you, limitless possibilities for holistic wealth and happiness.

This reminder is specifically intended for the way-showers, the teachers of the new paradigm to which humanity is gradually awakening. And it is also for those who are searching for spiritual understanding and clarity. I trust you are already consciously using the Law of Attraction to deliberately create your experiences and manifest your dreams.

It is incumbent on you now to learn new ways to work with thought, matter and energy, and in doing so, be ready to help others embrace a higher vision of life. It is never your mandate to change anyone’s beliefs, but simply to offer new choices.

The time of adhering to old limiting beliefs has come and gone. Open your mind and heart to the intuitive understanding dawning on your mind and in your heart. Listen to the silence between your breaths; get in touch with the spark of divine love that is burning in your heart and making you ache for more. See only the great possibilities of our wonderful future, based on love and decorated with joy and beauty. Our future is in our hands right now. It is not predetermined; it is a fluid state of being, in the process of creation by us here and now.

Since we create with our thoughts, envision what you really want our world to become: think big, think beautiful, think joy and prosperity. This is the future we are building for our children and their children.

It starts with your thoughts and desires. It builds on the foundation of your generous attitude and caring and wisdom. Focus on what you want that is grand and wonderful. Step into the future absolutely convinced it is even more delightful than we can yet imagine. And so it is and will be.

This is our time of spiritual awakening, of our evolutionary leap of consciousness, of awareness. We are not becoming something different, we are simply becoming aware of who we really are: it is time for this collective spiritual awakening to burst into the collective consciousness of humanity, every individual, every heart ready to embrace it.

Let this be your rallying call to step up and be the leader you were born to be. As you have read this far, this is your destiny tapping you on the shoulder.

Living in the Flow

Living in the Flow

Let us offer you some insights on this matter so that you may understand better the desire of your heart for a life of harmony, fulfillment and abundance…

We can begin by asking ourselves:
What does it mean To Live in the Flow?
Does it mean to sit down and wait for the Universe to magically satisfy all our needs and desires?

Does it mean to use the power of one's faith and to expect that one's desires will be fulfilled by a Supreme Being just because we have faith?
Does it mean to do as much as we can to pursue the satisfaction of our needs and desires with the trust that the processes of life will do their part with kindness?

In the Archives of the Perennial Wisdom is also found the expression, "living in the Flow"… There, the emphasis is not so much upon a way of living in which there is a complete satisfaction of one's desires and aspirations… Instead, the emphasis is upon awakening to the inner realization that we are co-creators with the Intelligent Forces responsible for the manifestation of the entire Universe…

Therefore, according to the Wisdom living in the Flow and living exercising one's responsibility as a co-creator of the processes of life are the same thing…

This co-creator role is at the very essence of our being, and it is founded upon some of the elements indicated by the above questions:

Yes! Being a co-creator is living in a world of magic!

But it is not magic as something unnatural, unpredictable, or miraculous… It is the magic that comes from understanding the processes of Nature and our dynamic, active role in them. It is the magic of knowing that in every one of us there is the same Mighty Power that has created the galaxies, the stars, the animals and the flowers in the fields.

It is the magic of exercising this Mighty Power to create what we want — through our capacity to formulate creative thoughts and to generate attracting feelings (Love) — and of experiencing our creation…

Yes! Being a co-creator is to make use of one's faith!

But it is not to make use of a blind, passive faith. It is the use of the faith that moves mountains — a faith which is born and grows in us from recognizing and accepting that we truly are made in the image and likeness of the Most High…

Yes! Being a co-creator is to do our part while knowing that the Intelligence originating and sustaining all things and processes in the Universe is motivated by Love and Abundance…

But it is not to do our part rushing through the daily life under stress attempting to be in control of every detail. It is to do our part everyday by consciously using the creative power contained in our thoughts only in the direction indicated by our heart's desire, while knowing that the Intelligence of the Universe always brings to fruition our desire with a mathematical precision…

Thus, dear fellow travelers, to live in the Flow is a magical experience founded upon the truth that WE ARE the image and likeness of the Most High — a magical experience which we attract to our lives by using the mighty creative power contained in our thoughts under the direction of Love and only Love…

These are the reasons why the Teachings of Wisdom, since times immemorial, have said:

"To live in the Flow is just to love — to love not only through our feelings but also through our thoughts…"

May the Blessings of the Great Host of Light surround your being and life conditions!

Stuck in Grief - You and Your Loved One Who Passed Over

Stuck in Grief - You and Your Loved One Who Passed Over

by Wendy A

Grief is yours to own, and no one will ever expect you to forget your grief. Grief cannot just be cured or dismissed, as the hurt surrounding grief is there because of your connection with the loved one you lost.

Grief can keep time standing still, and it is very common for people to not want to move through life anymore. Grief can make us want to remain close to the point in time of the grief, through maintaining the same surroundings, locations, routines and rituals.

Grief is loss. Loss of being able to see and interact with your loved one, loss of touch, loss of sharing of emotions, and loss of control over your own life. Grief is viewed as a permanent loss of connection with your loved one.

For most people, time, faith, other people, and their own personal journey helps them eventually cope with their grief and gradually move back into the flow of life.

But for some, and perhaps you feel this way too, it is just not possible to carry on as you were before the event or time that caused your grief. Grief and loss changed everything. You might be pretending to cope, or just not even caring, and both of those are very normal too.

But have you thought about your loved one you lost? In the laws of the universe there is a saying:
"As we are here, as we are there". Our journeys survive death, and just as we were here, so we are there when we pass over. There is still much to participate in, things to do, and personal journeys for our passed over loved ones to discover.

Death is not final; it only brings about loss of communication between yourself and your loved one. You lose the communication through site, touch, smell and hearing with your loved one due to the deep sense of loss and grief that overwhelms you. You wish for all these things to happen once more, to see, feel, listen and smell your loved one's comforting presence.

But what about how your loved one is feeling? They are now discovering other senses that we only learn about when we pass over. What doesn't change is the strong bonds of love you both shared. For your loved one that means sadness too at not being able to comfort you as you grieve, or to communicate with you that they are ok.

Your grief will keep them close, worried and concerned for your welfare, but as in life this is not good for those we love. We all have journeys and part of that journey is to grow and develop with the blessings of our nearest and dearest knowing we can because of their support and love. Your loved ones become stuck, just as you too are stuck in your grief now.

So, just as in life, you can help your loved one continue their journey when they pass over. Talk to them, tell them you love them and you want them to be all they can be, just exactly the same as you wanted for them in life. You will release them to continue their journey and grow, and through replacing your deep grief with loving support again, you will also start to very slowly move forward with your life’s journey too.

They will not leave you though.. do not think that because you release them you are saying goodbye to them..

Your loved ones will always be around you, just like in life as we grow, we come and go, and if we really want to we can return anytime we like to visit.

Higher Guidance/Higher Self

Higher Guidance/Higher Self:

It's Closer Than You May Think

by Jim Malloy

Have there ever been times in your life when you needed some guidance?... some direction in life, or a bit of help making a major decision? Where did you turn? To a trusted friend? A family member? An astrologer or psychic? Maybe you found some helpful direction from these sources, or maybe not. Did you ever wish that there was a higher source of wisdom and guidance you could turn to? One that is free from human bias, whose wisdom is absolutely trustworthy? This higher source of guidance does, indeed exist, and is closer than you may imagine. It is always available to you.

Each of you has at least one spiritual guide that is "assigned" to you, and stays with you throughout your life to assist you as needed. (This is not the same as your guardian angel.) You also have what is called your Higher Self. Your Higher Self is that part of your consciousness that is one with Spirit, and therefore, always in touch with the Higher Cosmic Wisdom. Your spiritual guide and your Higher Self assure that there are at least two higher sources of guidance available to you.

Now even though this higher guidance is always available to you, when you begin meditating and traveling your spiritual path, an interesting shift occurs. The light of your Inner Spirit begins to shine more brightly, and this light becomes a sort of beacon, signaling those in the higher spiritual realms that your spiritual journey has truly begun. To assure that your journey goes along in harmony with the cosmic plan, you begin to attract various teachers and guides to fill special needs for your soul's growth.

These wise and loving beings, who are present to help you travel your spiritual path, gently and quietly suggest possibilities and positive choices whenever needed. However, this must be done without interfering with your free will. This is very important, because cosmic law dictates that your freedom of choice cannot be taken away. This is especially true here on Planet Earth, where learning to make choices is an essential part of the curriculum. So your guides won't make your decisions for you, or tell you what you "must" do. Rather, they will gently whisper suggestions, and then leave the rest up to you.

This effortless collaboration with your guides is occurring more than you may know. Much of the time when you are making life choices, you are receiving higher guidance. (I'm not referring to mundane choices, such as which kind of breakfast cereal to buy, but choices that have a reasonable impact on your life or the lives of others.) You may not be aware of it, but your guides are there, assisting you.

For example, have you ever been heading somewhere and had a sudden urge to stop at a place that wasn't on your planned itinerary, only to run into an old friend. Perhaps this friend has some information for you - or vice versa - that turns out to be quite meaningful. Or perhaps your meeting leads to some positive new opportunity for one or both of you. These kinds of synchronicities begin to occur more frequently for those traveling their spiritual path. And what's behind them? It's your spiritual guides whispering gentle suggestions in your ear. This guidance process can be easy and spontaneous... part of the natural dynamic of your life.

Speedbumps on the Path However, sometimes you may go through periods when it seems as though the choice-making process is a struggle. You may feel confused, ambivalent, or completely clueless. At these times, something is obstructing the clear flow of inner guidance, as well as the clarity of your own thinking process. What causes this? The most common cause is the constricting anxiety that comes from "over-importantizing" decisions... giving too much weight to the outcome.

What often adds to the anxiety, is the notion that there is one right choice, and we have to discover what it is. There is a tendency to feel - either consciously or unconsciously - that if we make the right choice, The Universe will smile upon us, doing everything possible to support us. Our road will be smooth and easy. Everything will work out perfectly... the right choice will lead us to nirvana.

But if we make the wrong choice... take the wrong road, we fear that we will encounter countless obstacles, and nothing will work out favorably. Although we may blame "The Universe" for making this road so hard to find, it is generally the anxiety of thinking we must find the one right way that makes it difficult.

Now, sometimes there is one choice that is more in harmony with your soul's plan, and may well lead to greater joy than the other choices. However, when this is the case, The Universe does not obscure it just to see if you can find it. That would serve no positive purpose. On the contrary, it tends to post signs flashing "this way," all around you, and in every corner of your psyche. And if you do happen to choose another route, The Universe does not withhold it's unconditionally loving support because of it.

However, quite often there is not just one road that you are meant to take, but several possible roads, leading to several "possible futures" that will all bear fruit in some way. And all will have their joys as well as their challenges. From the higher cosmic perspective, your soul's growth is the top priority, and life is set up so that even the dumbest choices will open a doorway to growth and valuable spiritual lessons.

Follow Your Bliss If you ask for higher guidance, more often than you may imagine, your guides will encourage you to do what you love, i.e. to follow your heart's desire... your highest ideal. Or as the great mythologist, Joseph Campbell put it, to "follow your bliss." Of course, that excludes anything that will cause anyone any harm. Such choices may catalyze a feeling of elation or excitement within you when you think about them.

On the other hand, there may be occasions when your higher guidance will encourage you to do what's best for all concerned, even if it does not seem so blissful. In such cases, you most likely know what to do already, but may try to ignore it, hoping your guides will get you off the hook with an easier course to take.

When you begin to understand these dynamics of choice and of working with your guides, things tend to lighten up considerably. You begin to feel free of the pressure, and are less likely to over-importantize, and agonize over decisions. Choices start to come more easily... sometimes instantly, sometimes emerging and taking shape gradually. You begin to trust more in your instincts and intuition. And when you aren't all knotted up with anxiety, you are way more receptive to the gentle whisperings of your spiritual guides. So the whole process once again becomes a spontaneous collaboration between you and your higher guidance.

Inviting Higher Guidance Of course, there may still be occasions when a major life choice is not perfectly clear, and you feel the need for some extra help. At these times, it's best to turn within and ask for higher guidance. In such cases, the same principle holds true... the more you can relax and not get all knotted up with anxiety over the outcome, the easier it is to be receptive to your guides. For these occasions, here's an easy exercise you can do to get in touch with your Higher Self when you need some guidance.

1. Sit comfortably with your eyes closed. Breathe easily and naturally.

2. Imagine yourself in a place where you feel completely comfortable and at peace. It may be somewhere in nature, a room where you feel very comfortable... wherever you feel most at peace.

3. Picture a being of light approaching from a distance. You can see that this being is radiating great peace, love, and wisdom.

4. As he or she reaches you, you realize that it is your Higher Self.

5. Invite your Higher Self to sit with you. Notice how you feel completely at home and at peace in it's unconditionally loving presence.

6. Briefly explain the situation to your Higher Self, and ask for his or her guidance.

7. Then you can either sit quietly, waiting for the response... or you can carry on a dialogue with your Higher Self.

You may receive an answer immediately, or after a short time. Your Higher Self may give you an answer in the form of words, symbols, pictures, or just a deep knowing. The answer may be very specific, or it may come in the form of a higher truth, which sheds enough light on the situation to help you choose wisely. If you don't receive an answer while you are sitting, it's ok. You have still begun the guidance process, and that's important. Once you have begun the process, your guidance will most likely find you at a moment when you are not trying to find it.

Guidance from your Higher Self or your spiritual guides should always be gentle, and feel kind, compassionate, and accepting. It should never be a command (except in rare, life threatening situations requiring instant action). If a guide tells you that you "must" do this or that, it is not your Higher Self or a higher spirit guide. Simply disregard the advice, and ask it to move along.

Remember, you are being gently guided and lovingly cared for at all times. The more you learn to trust this, the easier it will be for your Higher Self and spiritual guides to assist you, and the more harmonious and enjoyable your journey will be.
