Are You Surrounded by Your Own Walls?

Are You Surrounded by Your Own Walls?

Move beyond your limitations.

Not long ago I met a business associate from Germany in Las Vegas. He loves magic so we decided to take in a magic show while there. I was asked to assist the magician by pretending to have lost my watch, a watch that he would find. I wondered. How many tricks are really not tricks but rather staged events? Now, I have studied and used hypnosis for over thirty years and I know of certain hypnotic tricks that are absolutely not staged.

This past week I gave a lot of thought to an idea suggested by Richard Bach in his book, Hypnotizing Maria. Imagine that a stage hypnotist has hypnotized you. The experience will seem quite real even if it is a pure hallucination, negative or positive in nature. (A negative hallucination occurs when you fail to see what is there and a positive one is when you see what is not there). So imagine that you have been imprisoned in a room without doors. Further, envision that the room is made of solid concrete like a bomb shelter or bunker and that the walls, floor and ceiling are several feet thick. You’re trapped inside this room without exits.

Think about this for a moment. Perhaps you circle the stage floor walking around the room that only you can see. The audience has been told that you believe that you are trapped in a solid concrete room. You touch the cold walls when the hypnotist suggests that you try to find a way out. They are hard. You push on them and find that they are not just cold and hard, but the surface is rough like a sidewalk.

You kick the wall and hurt your foot. When prompted to by the hypnotist, you search for seams and find none. You begin to worry. How will you get out? What if the light disappears? Where is the light coming from? Fear begins to crawl over you.

Now imagine that you are in the audience. You are witnessing a hypnotized individual trapped in an imaginary room. That is, the barrier perceived as a concrete wall does not actually exist. The walled-in subject is trapped only by their beliefs. From your perspective in the audience, it seems almost ridiculous that this self-imposed belief, this hallucination, this state of mind in hypnosis, could possibly be real. You laugh at the antics of the hypnotized as they become frantic to escape. Their antics grow ever more panicked. You laugh louder and harder.

Okay, now imagine that you are living in a world full of your own self-imposed limitations and you’re doing so right now—right this very minute as you read this article. How many of these self-imposed walls have you been hypnotized to believe are real? Isn’t that what accepting a suggestion is—a state of hypnosis? How many suggestions have you accepted from the world around you, your peers, the media, and so on . . . that have become your walls, your barriers?

We live in a world that seeks to entrap us in this or that argument, as though these are our only choices. They are not!

Perhaps we need to dehypnotize ourselves. Questioning everything we believe is one way to begin. You have choices. I hope you will seek to separate the suggestion from the sincere.

TOOLS OF OUR OWN CONSCIOUSNESS

TOOLS OF OUR OWN CONSCIOUSNESS

(Visualization, Meditation, Affirmation)

by Judy Merrill
selfgrowth.com

We do not require any outside stimulus to open and expand our state of consciousness to inspire our being. We have been given the tools of strength and balance in our body, mind and spirit connection. We do not require any outside stimulus to open and expand our state of consciousness to include the sensitivities of empowerment within our humanity.

Using prayer to connect to the highest source of all qualities allows the spirit to grow and be within a framework of love. It solidifies the connection between human frailties and the God of our own understanding. Opening and closing all our efforts with spirit, in prayer solidifies the covenant we seek with the guiding force of all life.

As you can program your computer to its language, so can you program your universe to the language of love. With this programming in place, the universe will resonate with the highest frequencies of 'life force energy', 'God'; 'Light' that resonate at this frequency.

When you focus on this frequency, your being becomes attuned, like a musical instrument and will bring it into harmony in every cell of our universe. When you focus on fear, it creates disharmonic frequencies in your being.

This inspiration talks to our interaction with others: Reason, Season, Lifetime Author unknown

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
We can neither create nor destroy energy; we can only change its form. As we create something, we do not create the energy, but take energy that already exists and change its form into that which we desire.

The human existence is a series of many electrical systems. We call them body, mind, and spirit connection, functioning together as one reality. When we create our thought forms, send them through this maze of electrical systems, which is then sent to a universal consciousness, this energy is then returned to manifest our desires.

If the electrical systems within the individual existence are fragmented, dysfunctional or distorted through fear and negativity, the thought form is sent out and returns distorted. If the electrical system is blocked, the thought form may never have the opportunity to be completed.

As the individual creation takes the universal energy already in existence and exercises creative mind, giving the energy meaning and direction with thought, the most powerful energy in the universe, creative manifestation is now set into motion. You have been doing this your entire life.

Thought is energy set into motion. What your mind creates, your body and spirit can manifest.

AFFIRMATION

Our mind can be encouraged to think upon the lines of positive empowerment that we instill. To begin affirmations, it must be noted that it is important to use one that you can believe. Paying lip service to action will not get the job done. Even when it does not make sense to you at the present time, your consciousness can be exercised (like any muscle in the body) to accept this new thought.

Affirmations will be freeing us from the conscious thoughts that 'life is pain' and therefore to be endured. When we begin our affirmations, if this thought is embedded in our consciousness, we will not succeed in our efforts.

Not all in life is pain. There are many joys and it is our responsibility to accentuate the positive, finding the joys of life as we learn and grow. Life is not all black and white, the joys of life can be found even in our sorrow.

In nature, all is seeded in a soil of comfort and security, but to grow also requires fertilizer. The manure we put on our plants, while waste in another aspect, can nourish our flowers to blossom. Sit back and enjoy the results as the end product of the lessons of life.

On waking, to begin your day, turn your thoughts from chaos and confusion to peace and harmony with a simple affirmation. Without the calming exercise, you begin your day in hurry and bustle, which is designed to create chaos for your entire day.

During the stresses of your day, take a moment to repeat your affirmation and calm any loaded situation. Make it the last thought before sleep at night to ensure a peaceful dream state.

VISUALIZATION

Using the mind to visualize in conjunction with a meditative, peaceful state is our ability to calm our consciousness for stress relief and health. Our imagination can picture anything in our mind we choose. Keeping it positive and of nature is an important aspect of manifesting peace and calm within, when it is needed for life.

All energies flow from the source, the creator of all life. Beginning all exercises of our consciousness with a prayer puts the spiritual aspect we are seeking for ourselves into all our efforts for ourselves as well as others. From the spirit allow the greater spirit to guide and protect you through all activities of being, so that service is the watchword of a loving life. Be a part of the spread of energy of peace, calm and harmony throughout a troubled world so that you can remain a part of the raising of consciousness of all life.

Sit comfortably, close the eyes to distraction and breathe gently. Take note of your breathing and allow it to slow and calm, releasing tensions from the body. Let go of the stresses causing tension within the body, blow out several times to get in touch with your deeper breathing.

Picture water lapping on a shore (the scene can be one of your own choosing, either from memory or produced for this purpose), with the ebb and flow of the water, feel your whole being flowing, in and out, relaxing and enlivening your whole body, mind and spirit connection.

The beach has warm sand beneath your feet and a warm sun upon your shoulders. You are peaceful and calm as you walk along your secluded, private personal space. Listen to the ebb and flow of the tides. Feel the calm of this sound.

When ready, enter the cool waters to refresh. Flow again with the tides of the water as you enjoy it over, around and through your whole being.

When ready, leave the cool water and return to the warm sandy beach. You will feel energized and full of warmth that seeps deep within your body. To share it, visualize someone you know of who could do with a calming thought and send some of your new- found peace along to them, as well.

You are ready to return to your conscious state and bring this peaceful, calm energy into all you think, do and be for the coming hours. It is important to say a prayer of thanks on completion of any exercise that calls on the universe to re-energize, renew and refresh your being as you work to also send peace and calm to others.

MEDITATION

The literal interpretation of Meditation is….To think upon. Using visualization, sound, music, etc. we can concentrate and retrain our mind upon a single purpose.
Contemplation and meditation are so important to our consciousness. We can unlock hidden, spiritual potential within our own being. There is only one spiritual center for each individual. There are many methods and purposes to reach this spiritual center. There remains only one motive "Service" to all in spirituality.

Meditation is used for many purposes and in many ways to produce energies and feelings of calm and peace. When we are in need of personal energy or healing, meditation can bring awareness to our body, mind and spirit connection.

It is also used for attunement for the gifts of the spirit (spiritual healing, clairvoyance, inspired speaking, inspirations, etc.) bringing enlightenment of the spirit. Therefore, there will be different techniques for different purposes. For the purpose of stress relief and relaxation, inner peace is found in a simple meditation upon a calm, beautiful place of peace. It can be a beautiful object such as a flower, or music can set a tone of relaxation.

In a moving meditation, we are uniting the body, mind and spirit through such exercises as tai chi, yoga, labyrinth walk or any repetitive activity. This can also be washing a floor, painting a wall, dusting, jogging or power walking, in fact, any activity that causes all outside thoughts to fall away. When this puts us in the present moment, we are meditating.

To attune through meditation to spirit guides and teachers for the purpose of mediumship gifts (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, trance, inspiration, etc.) it is important to reach our guidance with a symbol of our own choosing to personalize the contact. It is effective for the symbols we use to come from nature, as this is such a living, thriving source of energies. Flowers neither reap nor sow, they offer the beauty and scent of their being for all to be uplifted and enlivened in spirit.

Each time we make attunement with our guiding forces, we strengthen that partnership of spirit. With each exercise, it becomes easier to make the connection we desire. The results of this attunement are the manifestation of all mediumship gifts on a spiritual level of our consciousness.

Knowledge is the foundation upon which we build. Training of the consciousness at many levels is the exercise to seek knowledge. Meditation will cultivate the understanding so that knowledge is absorbed by us and applied in our everyday living. We have the opportunity to take knowledge on a personal basis, expand and refine it to our needs individually.

Meditation is a wondrous adventure and can be an important step in our spiritual awareness. As spirit here and now, everything in this universe is open to our use, there is no limit to what we can learn, and only the limitations we impose upon ourselves.

The mind is the greatest tool or instrument that we own. It is unfortunate that most of us are not aware of the great potential of our minds. The opening and expanding of our consciousness not only touches our spirit, but also opens a whole new world of spirit for our exploration and growth.

We can form a partnership with the spirit guardians, guides and teachers who touch our lives. We can work with them to make this experience of a more spiritual nature. We will be getting in touch with a more complete aspect of which we are as a human being now in this material world of existence.

Once we empower our body, mind, and spirit connection with these tools of strength and balance, we will find our consciousness opening and expanding to another dimension of awareness, generally referred to as the psychic.

We have been using our 5 senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch, smell) in a material world and can take these onto this other level of awareness and add intuition and I know (from the heart…it neither sees nor hears, it just knows).

It is important to be open to all the senses to manifest, not only on the physical level, but also on the spiritual level. Warm and cold feelings are two of the symptoms from energies that are frequently felt during meditation.

The Empowerment of a Good Attitude

The Empowerment of a Good Attitude

by Harris Gates
articlesbase.com

"The only disability in life is a bad attitude." - Scott Hamilton

Attitude is so important. It is probably the most important thing worth talking about in all the self -help material you will come across. Why; because attitude controls your mind which controls everything. It's what makes the difference between a good athlete and a poor one; a successful entrepreneur or a failure; a great artist/musician and a poor one. Hamilton, our author today was no stranger to disability; he was two years old when he contracted a mysterious illness that caused him to stop growing. He was misdiagnosed as having cystic fibrosis and was told by doctors at one point that he had 6 months to live. Diet and exercise cured the problem though Hamilton achieved only a height of 5 feet 2 inches in his life-time. He didn't allow disability to stop him. In 1981 '82 and '83 Scott Hamilton won the gold medal in the World Figure Skating Championships, and won the gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

But Hamilton is not the only example of men and women overcoming great obstacles in their lives. There is Helen Keller, blind and deaf from a very young age; President Abraham Lincoln who rose from being a bare foot poor boy from Missouri, to becoming a self taught layer who eventually became our 16th President of the United States. The list goes on and on of people defeating the odds against them armed with simply a good attitude. A bad attitude can stop any man or woman's dream.

What is the secret to attaining the great attitude we talk so much about? Art Link letter said it this way: "Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out." That is the magic formula and nothing more or less.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt campaigned from a wheel chair and won the Presidential election in 1933. He served an unprecedented 4 terms in office from 1933-1945 serving as a handicapped person serving through some of the toughest times our country has ever seem seen including the great depression and the 2nd world war.

Hamilton is right when he says the only disability is a bad attitude. A bad attitude can prevent you from getting a job by acting poorly on a job interview, it can break up marriages and drive a person to use street drugs or become chemically dependent. A bad attitude can keep a beaten house-wife to stay with her brutal husband till he finally beats her to death; it can keep us all imprisoned to our own bonds of self-limitation if we allow it. It makes us all make bad choices in life which leads to nowhere and can make us penniless pawns of society. Having a bad attitude has a bad ending in store for all who choose that road of self indulgence and self pity which is where a bad attitude always leads in the end.

It is best to make the best of your life, whatever the cards are that you were dealt, and put a smile on your face and brave the day, each and every new day. Greet it with a good attitude and watch the difference it makes. Someone once said life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you deal with it. That is why having a good attitude is so important. Having a good attitude empowers you and when you are empowered you can empower others you meet. Today give it a try and put on that mask of a good attitude. Yes that's right, sometimes you will have to fake it till you make but in the long run you will see that having a good attitude will get easier and easier until it comes as second nature to you. Today be empowered and decide to face your day with a good attitude!

Blossoming Spirit

Blossoming Spirit

By Kate Ann Spreckley
selfgrowth.com

Our ordinary way of being is clearly flourishing into the extraordinary as we transform and expand our consciousness. At this point in our evolutionary journey the memories of our true divinity are gently awakening within our hearts. We know more than ever before who we are and what we are here to do. It is important to remember that it is love and wisdom that are the flowing currents permeating our world, encouraging us to come into balance and harmony with the natural structures and rhythms of the Earth.

The Earth moves through many natural cycles and it is our task to realign and rebalance ourselves so that we may flow with these shifts and changes. The earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are undoubtedly creating massive adjustments within our physical and emotional bodies, bringing a strengthening of our Spirit and enabling us to realign with the natural flow of energy.

It is essential that we release any fears and bear in mind that love is a thread that leads us through the web of life directing us to a far greater existence. As love arises within us ripples of change and transformation affect our communities and cultures, ultimately changing our world.

Life is a constantly interesting journey with many paths that ultimately move towards us touching those parts of ourselves requiring change, healing and evolution. I am truly amazed at how the spiral of life is ever unfolding, bringing us closer to the truth of our purpose and reason for this Earthwalk. The presence of liberation is being birthed within us all as the chains of the past fall away. Past attitudes and behaviours are being washed away and a vulnerable, soft and gentle peace is awakening with the hearts and minds of humanity.

As you watch the past float away, the future may remain a mystery. Develop your faith and grow your trust. Move forward knowing that each step you take is Divinely guided and the fears you have held close are being released. The power of your light is radiating swiftly to encompass all that you see, sense and feel. Be determined to follow your path, to heal yourself. Unfurl your wings, take flight and move swiftly through the night towards the break of day.

Give the Gift of Gratitude!

Give the Gift of Gratitude!

by Reggie Odom
reggieodom.com

Gratitude is a gift you give yourself, no matter what it is that you are grateful for. What are you grateful for? What in your life do you appreciate? Stop for a moment and bring to mind something that you are truly grateful for, that you deeply appreciate. As you are thinking of this, notice how you feel. Notice the smile that is beginning to turn up the corners of your mouth. Notice how your body relaxes and opens up. Notice how happy you feel. How would your life be different if you experienced gratitude more of the time?

If your gratitude is for others, your appreciation is a gift to them, especially when you let them know it. In the true spirit of a gift, appreciation is freely given without expectation of anything in return. However, your return is always a given - simply by how you feel. Gratitude feels good. Gratitude is a feeling, a focus, an experience. It is not necessarily a gift you can wrap up and put a bow on, although you can wrap up and put a bow on something that is an expression of your gratitude. Or you can write a thank you note, or simply tell someone what you appreciate about them.

Gratitude is a recognition and a deeply felt appreciation for the gifts you have been given.
Gifts may be in the form of innate gifts, such as special abilities and talents - a gift of singing, a mechanical aptitude, a genius for poetry, a faculty for remembering names, an athletic talent, or the ability to see an image and create it in sculpture. What are yours? Don’t be shy, we all have them.

Other gifts come in all shapes and sizes and in limitless ways. They come in the form of the morning sun, of people with whom we have relationships, or who simply smile at us as we pass them on the street, the pets who love us unconditionally.., electricity, running water, eyes to read this article, the breakfast you had this morning, your clients, the special vacation you will take this winter, your teachers and mentors, coaches and counselors, the nurse who placed your newborn into your arms, the great mechanic who repaired your car last week, the farmer who grew the rice you will have with tonight’s dinner, and the opportunities that present themselves to you every day. Your gifts are endless, which you soon discover when you recognize and appreciate them.

Gratitude is a feeling, one of those high order feelings that brings us back home to ourselves and lines us up on all levels – physically, mentally and spiritually.
It gives us a sense of peace and a sense of connection with ourselves, others, a Higher Power and with all of life. It restores our faith that we are being taken care of, and that the nature of life is abundance. It opens our eyes to possibilities and to the opportunities that we are given every day, both large and small.

Gratitude is a natural medicine that enhances our physical health.
The feeling of gratitude changes us on a cellular level. Joan Borysenko, world-renowned expert in mind/body medicine, said that a sense of peace and gratitude is accompanied by biochemical changes in our neuropeptides, immune system and cardiovascular system that are consistent with health and well-being.

Gratitude is the gift that keeps on giving.
The more you are grateful, the more you discover you have to be grateful for. I keep a gratitude journal and every night before I go to sleep I write down 10 things I am grateful for. Over time, I have come to feel as if I’m just getting started when I get to “10.” It is a universal law that we always get more of what we give our attention to. The more we focus on what we are grateful for, the more we are given to be grateful for. Gratitude attracts greater abundance into our lives.

Gratitude is a way of being.
If you’d like to experience gratitude as a way of being and all of the benefits that come from living this way, simply make a decision to become grateful and practice by taking regular actions to help you. I’m going to suggest three daily actions, and there are plenty more besides these. If you do any one of these for 30 days, you will notice a significant shift. You will feel generally happier, more at peace, and will have become naturally more grateful.

Photobucket

1. Keep a gratitude journal. At the end of every day, write down 10 things you are grateful for. Please include something about yourself.

2. Each morning when you wake up,make a decision to look for things throughout the day to be grateful for, and then look-out for them.

3. Say thank-you at least 10 times each day.

And please appreciate yourself! Appreciate who you are and what you do.

Remember, You are a natural! You are brilliant! You are magnificent! Simply by being you.

Let your light shine!

You Are Good Enough!

You Are Good Enough!

Let that negative thinking go.

by Louise L. Hay
LouiseHay.com.

Believe the best about yourself.

A young man named Eric was a client of mine several years ago when I was seeing people privately. He was devastatingly handsome and made a good living as a model. He told me how difficult it was for him to go to the gym because he felt so unattractive.

As we worked together, he recalled that a neighborhood bully from his childhood used to call him “ugly.” This person would also beat him up and constantly threaten him. In order to be left alone and feel safe, Eric began to hide. He bought into the fact that he wasn’t good enough. In his mind, he was ugly.

Through self-love and doing positive affirmations, Eric has improved tremendously. His feelings of anxiety may come and go, but now he has some tools to work with.

Remember, feelings of inadequacy start with negative thoughts that we have about ourselves. However, these thoughts have no power over us unless we act upon them. Thoughts are only words strung together. They have no meaning whatsoever. Only we give meaning to them, and we do so by focusing on the negative messages over and over again in our minds. We believe the worst about ourselves. And we choose what kind of meaning we give to them.

We’re always perfect, always beautiful, and ever-changing. We’re doing the best we can with the understanding, knowledge and awareness that we have. As we grow and change more and more, our “best” will only get better and better.

An Exercise in Letting Go

Here’s an exercise you can do to help you let go and relax:

As you read this exercise, take a deep breath, and as you exhale, allow the tension to leave your body. Let your scalp, forehead, and face relax. Your head need not be tense in order for you to read. Let your tongue, throat, and shoulders relax, Let your back, abdomen, and pelvis relax. Let your breathing be at peace as you relax your legs and feet.

Can you feel a noticeable change in your body since you started reading the previous paragraph? In this relaxed, comfortable position, say to yourself:

“I am willing to let go. I release. I let go. I release all tension. I release all fear. I release all anger. I release all guilt. I release all sadness. I let go of old limitations. I let go, and I am at peace. I am at peace with myself. I am at peace with the process of life. I am safe.”

Go over this exercise two or three times. Repeat it whenever thoughts of difficulty come up. It takes a little practice for the routine to become a part of you. Once you’re familiar with this exercise, you can do it anywhere at any time. You will be able to relax complete in any situation.
